Major Introduction

SCCE has the first-level discipline of Chemical Engineering and Technology, the master's degree authorization points of Applied Chemistry (Engineering) and Analytical Chemistry (Science), the professional master's degree of Chemical Engineering, and the master's degree of Engineering in Chemical Engineering. There are 4 undergraduate majors: Chemical Engineering and Technology (081301), Applied Chemistry (070302), Polymer Materials and Engineering (080407), Chemical Biology (070303T)

 

Chemical Engineering and Technology (081301)

Major Introduction: Chemical Engineering and Technology is one of the earliest undergraduate majors established in our university, and it is a national specialty construction point and the  2nd batch of majors implemented by the Ministry of Education and Anhui Province Excellent Engineer Training Program. It has 1 key laboratory in Anhui Province and 1 science and technology innovation team at provincial and university levels. The School has the right to confer master's degree in Chemical Engineering and Technology and Chemical Process. It also has the right to confer professional master's degree in Chemical Engineering. The major has a certain influence in China in the areas of coal-blending coking technology, relationship between coke quality and blast furnace smelting, basic application of coal clean utilization, energy saving and emission reduction of coking process, and green processing and comprehensive utilization of coal tar. It actively carries out international cooperation and exchange with foreign institutions, such as Florida State University (U. S.), the University of Western Ontario (Canada) and Hanoi University of Science and Technology (Vietnam), and is one of the majors that AHUT accepts foreign students.

Training Objectives: This major aims to cultivate senior engineering talents with basic theory and knowledge in Chemical Engineering and Technology, and expertise in coal conversion and clean utilization, who can engage in production technology management, engineering design, invention, technology development and scientific research in chemical industry, coal coking, oil refining, metallurgy, energy, light industry, medicine, environmental protection, and military industry.

Main Courses: Inorganic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Chemical Principles, Chemical Thermodynamics, Chemical Reaction Engineering and the specialty courses, includingFuel Chemistry, Coal Processing Technology, ChemicalProduction Technology.

Employment Direction: Graduates can be employed in national steel enterprises, chemical enterprises, research institutes, higher education institutions, etc. Our graduates are engaged in scientific research, teaching, engineering design, production management, technology development, and other innovative work.

 

Applied Chemistry (070302)

Major Introduction: The major of Applied Chemistry is one of the early undergraduate majors of Anhui University of Technology, which is a key discipline at the provincial level, a pilot of comprehensive reform at the provincial level, and a specialty at the university level, with obvious advantages and characteristics in 3 specialties: industrial analysis, fine chemistryindustry, and applied electrochemistry. It has 2 master's degree authorization points in Applied Chemistry (engineering) and Analytical Chemistry (science). The major of Applied Chemistry is actively engaged in international cooperation and exchange of teachers and students with foreign institutions, such as Florida State University in the United States, and is one of the major schools accepting foreign students in AHUT.

Training Objectives: Students in this major mainly learn the basic knowledge, basic theory, basic skills, and related engineering technology knowledge in chemistry. They are trained in scientific thinking and scientific experimental skills in basic and applied basic researchwith a good scientific literacy and basic skills to apply the knowledge and experimental skills for applied research, technology development, and science and technology management. With obvious advantages and characteristics in the three professional directions of industrial analysis, fine chemical industry, and applied electrochemistry, the program cultivates complex-senior-applied-technical talents who can work in chemical, chemical engineering, refining, metallurgy, energy, light industry, medicine, environmental protection, food, commodity inspection, and military industry in the fields of technology development, production technology management, and scientific research.

Employment Direction: Students in this major can be engaged in analysis and testing, fine chemicals research and development and production, engineering design, technology development and quality management, scientific research, and so on in the fields of chemistry, chemical industry, oil refining, metallurgy, energy, light industry, medicine, environmental protection, food, commodity inspection and military industry, etc. They can develop high performance functional materials, photoelectric materials, bio-medical materials, fine chemicals, and polymer materials for the high-tech field. They can also be engaged in teaching and scientific research in universities and research institutes. The employment rate of students is over 95%, and the acceptance rate of graduate school is over 30% (most of them are admitted to 985 Project University and famous research institutes), and many of them are awarded national scholarships and Baosteel scholarships.

 

Polymer Materials and Engineering (080407)

Major Introduction: The major of Polymer Materials and Engineering is a provincial and university-level professional comprehensive reform pilot program, and has the right to confer master's degree in the second-level discipline of material chemical and technology. It has obvious advantages and characteristics in the fields of polymer material synthesis and modification, structural performance and application development, etc., and has carried out extensive industry-university-research cooperation with enterprises inside and outside the province with remarkable achievements in metal surface protection and polymer functional coating technology development. The department has continuously expanded the research direction and enriched the connotation of the discipline in the development of new polymer materials.

Training Objectives: The major cultivates engineering talents with good professional ethics, sense of lifelong learning, teamwork spirit, and communication ability. Upon graduation, students will be able to master the professional knowledge and skills of polymer materials and engineering systematically, and be able to analyze and solve complex engineering problems in polymer materials synthesis/processing and molding by combining basic knowledge of mathematics, natural science, and engineering.Five years after graduation, they will be able to independently engage in design/development, research and project management in polymer materials, and related industries, and reach the level of industrial engineers.

Chemical Biology (070303T)

Major Introduction: The major of Chemical Biology belongs to the special majors in the Catalogue of Undergraduate Majors in General Higher Education Schools (2012) of the Ministry of Education, and the internationalized majors in Anhui Province, which conducts international student training; it has the right to confer master's degree in the secondary discipline of biochemistry. The major cooperates with Zhongmeidekang Biotechnology Co., Ltd. and started to enroll and cultivate in 2011, closely combining the front-end achievements of international biomedicine with the process of talent cultivation, giving full play to their respective advantages, cooperating comprehensively in professional settings, cultivation programs, training mode reform and innovative ability cultivation, and striving to create compound cross-cutting senior application talents that meet the needs of modern high-tech enterprises.

Training Objectives: The major cultivatescross-composite-senior-application talents with solid basic knowledge of chemistry, biochemistry, and pharmacology, and broader knowledge of cross-field of chemical biology, proficient basic experimental skills in chemistry, biochemistry, and chemical biology, strong sense of innovation, and high comprehensive quality, who can engage in teaching, scientific research, technology development, and production management in the fields of chemical biology, chemistry, biology, medicine, environmental protection, commodity inspection, analysis, and testing.
